Welcome to Radiating FI
Follow my journey toward financial independence and the radiant life I’m creating along the way
So… let’s get personal
Growing up, my brothers and I ate one meal a day because that’s all our mom could afford. Clothes came from thrift stores, and I even remember holding back from buying simple things like stationery because every dollar mattered. At a young age, it became clear to me: money buys freedom.
Those early experiences left me determined to build a future where I had choices. As soon as I learned how to use a computer, I was already searching the internet for ways to earn money. I wanted to start early so that one day my children wouldn’t have to live with the same constraints I had.
My philosophy on FI
Now at 32, with a decade of work behind me, I have trouble imagining myself working past 42. I’m grateful—my job as as a CPA is fully remote, the pay is solid, and I can work from anywhere. But work is still work. Reconciliations, variance analyses, and preparing hundreds of workpapers don’t exactly light me up.
While I’m young and healthy, I’d rather pursue passion projects, learn new languages, train for an ultramarathon, or dive into whatever excites me in the moment. That’s why FI matters to me: it’s not about escaping life, it’s about creating space to live more fully.
One book that resonates deeply with me is Die With Zero by Bill Perkins. He urges us to reflect on how we truly want to live at every stage of life since opportunities are fleeting. His philosophy—that we should use our money to create rich experiences rather than hoard it until it’s too late—mirrors my own.
